Former Malawi President is confident of innocence in cash-gate scandal

Former Malawi president Dr Joyce Banda says has confidence that she will not be found guilty of cash get.

Dr Banda who is also president of Peoples Party was speaking on Tuesday during a visit to her father’s home at Chipeleka Village tradition authority Chowe in Mangochi district.

She said was surprised to hear that government of Malawi had issued her warrant of arrest because was involved in cash get scandal.

“My 4 years in exile was not running away from being arrested but to pave way for the current president professor Peter Muthalika to govern the country,” Dr Banda disclosed

The former Malawi president said she was the first president to conduct forensic audit for justice to prevail.

She has also promised more developmental activities such as decent houses to family members and water projects for villagers to drink safe water.

Commenting one of her family members from Chipeleka village Allie M’dogo Shokoloti commended Dr Banda for her visit.

Sholokoti said the gesture shows love and caring to the family members.

“Dr Banda’s visit has helped to break speculation that the trip to the village was for political gains,” Sholokoti said

Among other things Dr Banda visited one of the developmental projects which is the grand masjid at Mangochi boma and Elliot Amini Kampala who is not feeling well.
