Girls urged to break silence, report challenges

Girls in Mangochi have been urged to break their silence and report challenges they are facing to relevant authorities for them to achieve their dreams

The call was made by Mangochi district nutritionist Dr Chifundo Manong’a during a debate to commemorate girl child day at Mangochi technical college

Manong’a said girls are the most vulnerable people as they face a lot of challenges such as defilement and forced marriages which result into pregnancies at younger age

“Parents to listen to their children and open up because most of the challenges girls go through result into mental health disturbances,” says Dr Manong’a

In her remarks a role model to the girls at the debate Chikondi Kanjadza said huge assistance from parents, government and the community is required to address challenges girls face

Meanwhile, one of the girls Elizabeth Daniel from Mponda’s day secondary school expressed her excitement saying she has learnt a lot from the gathering and will inform others of the importance of speaking out the problems
