Huawei sends 10 students to China

Huawei Technologies Company Limited has sponsored 10 ICT students from different colleges across the country a trip to China for ICT Talent Training.

Speaking during the 2019 Huawei Malawi Seeds of the Future Program Send off ceremony that was held at Bingu international Convention center in Lilongwe, Deputy Managing Director for Huawei Technologies Co Limited, Titus Tasosa, said they thought of sending the students to China to support in cultivating Malawian ICT talents and encourage them to actively participate in building a digital community.

Tasosa said the students will be taught more ICT skills during their 2 weeks training where they will have a chance to explore the most advanced technological concepts pursued by Huawei Company and open up their minds beyond what they see in school.

In his remarks, Minister of Information, Civic Education and Communications Technology, Mark Botomani, said government is expecting the students to learn more in China so that they can help in developing the ICT sector in the country when they return.

Botomani urged the students to take the trip seriously and take it as an opportunity to explore the new technologies that will contribute to the development of the country.

He then appreciated China for coming up with the Seeds of the future program because it will help more ICT students in the country to sharpen their skills.

Commenting, one of the students selected to go to China who is a Computer Science student at DMI, Mwai Vilili expressed gratitude with the initiative saying it will help her and her fellow students get exposed to the ICT world.

Huawei started Seeds of the future program in 2015 and this is the 4th time Malawian ICT students accorded with a chance to visit China.
