IIB urges Malawians to vote for a leader who will promote co-existence

Islamic Information Bureau has asked Malawians to elect a leader who will promote unity and co-existence in the forthcoming presidential elections.

Malawians will on Tuesday,2 June 2020 go to polls to elect their next president following the nullification of the 2019 polls by the Constitutional court in February this year.

In a press statement made available to Radio Islam, Limbe IIB Coordinator Sheikh Ahmad Chienda said “as per teachings of Islam, Malawi needs a selfless leader with knowledge and wisdom that will promote the country’s developmental agenda.”

Sheikh Chienda said it’s high time Malawians changed their mindset on electing leaders based on region, tribe and religious affiliations among others.

“I am urging all Malawians who registered to come out in large numbers and exercise their voting rights.”
