K22 billion required for new ifmis implementation

Public accounts committee of parliament says 22 billion kwacha is required to implement new ifmis which will prevent stealing of government money

Chairperson of the committee Shadreck Namalomba said Ministry of finance allocated only 7 billion kwacha which is not enough for the implementation

Namalomba said if completed the new ifmis will attract donors

“The new ifmis is different from the old one because the current one has capabilities to prevent plundering of public resources,” said Namalomba

He further said the committee will do investigation on the supplier of the system for Malawians to trust it.
