Malawi & China sign third cooperation on Parliament.

Malawi and People’s Republic of China have signed for a third technical cooperation on the Parliament Building in Lilongwe.

This cooperation means that Government of China will for the third time provide maintenance and technical support to parliament building which was also constructed by the Chinese themselves.

Speaking after signing the agreement in Lilongwe, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Goodall Gondwe said the third technical cooperation will be for a period of two years.

“This phase will cost MK 900 million and Chinese government will provide a team of seven technical experts to Malawi to support the Malawi Parliament,” said Gondwe.

According to Finance Minister the technical experts who are coming to Malawi will include; an architect, water engineer, electrical broadcaster engineer and an interpreter.

On his part, Ambassador of China to Malawi Zhang Qingyang emphasised on the fact that by bringing their technicians, China is not ripping too much from government of Malawi as the media always reports.
