Malawi Hosts SADC Parliament workshop

Lack of implementation is said to be the major challenge when it comes to ending child marriages in the country.

The remarks were made by the chairperson of Malawi women’s parliamentary caucus Dr Jessie Kabwila during the opening session of the 3 day workshop by the SADC parliament at BICC in the capital of Lilongwe.

Kabwila who is also the SADC Regional women’s Malawi Director and MP For Salima North East Constituency said the workshop was aimed at building capacity of the selected MWPC members and Civil Society Organizations with relevant skills.

“The knowledge will enable them to properly oversee the implementation of UN Commission on the status of women and girls in the country,” said Kabwira

Kabwila therefore urged women from different constituency to support each other without looking at political parties to preach to the country that there is need to understand that the women leadership is very crucial.
