MRA beats target in 2022/23 fiscal year’s first quarter
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has exceeded its target in the first quarter of 2022 to 2023 financial year
MRA Commissioner General, John Biziwick, disclosed this during the media engagement aimed at updating the media on the projects it is carrying out to reach the 1.5 trillion kwacha target in this fiscal year
Biziwick revealed that the authority has performed well in the past three months as it has collected 130.46 billion kwacha against the target of K124.88 billion kwacha.
He said beating the target necessarily mean that the authority has tightened its buttons in tax compliance programs.
Biziwick further said MRA has lined up a number of initiatives aimed at maximizing the collection of taxes in this fiscal year.
“MRA has among others established block management system and border posts to help in collecting the revenue through various types of taxes,” Biziwick
He said in 2021 to 2022 financial year MRA collected 92 percent of the target but realized the 19 percent growth rate
