MEHN asks religious leaders to allow subjects access medical care

Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN), Executive Director, George Jobe has asked faith leaders who bar women and children from accessing medical help to stop the malpractice in order to reduce infant mortality rate.

Jobe said government must make sure that every citizen is accessing medical help more especially in this time when the country is under siege of different pandemics like cholera

He said it is very pathetic that some religious leaders are frustrating efforts of defeating diseases by instructing their members not to access medical help because it is against their beliefs.

Jobe appealed to government to put some measures in the public health in the interest of the nation so that faith groups encouraged their subjects to receive medical help to increase the population’s immunity hence, advancing the right to life.
