MEHN Introduces New Immunization Project

Malawi Health Equity Network MEHN has embarked on an immunization project targeting people in hard to reach areas known as Gavi Health Systems Strengthening.

MEHN Executive Director George Jobe says the five year project seeks to improve access of quality immunization services.

He said there are groups in the remotest areas that have been trained to trace defaulters and lobby for health services from government.

Commenting Mangochi district health officer Dr Henry Chibowa Junior said they are registering positive progress on immunization of children as there are enough vaccines in the health facility.

He said only one out of the 14 targeted health facilities is doing well in as far as immunization is concerned.

Dr Chibowa Junior cited lack of funds to procure gas for fridges, mobility challenges and low demand for services by the community as some of the contributing factors.
