Mid-year budget review begins

Parliament begins mid-year budget review meeting this afternoon.

During the meeting members of parliament are expected to discuss how the 1.3 trillion kwacha 2017 to 2018 national budget has been used.

Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development Goodall Gondwe is next week Friday expected to table a statement summarizing observations on the economic trends and activities in the first half of the budget implementation.

“The budget increased by 26.1 percent from the 2016 to 2017 revised budget which was at 977.8 billion kwacha,” said Gondwe.

Parliament will then consider and adopt revised estimates on the recurrent and development accounts of the budget.
