MP, Councillors close Liwonde ADMARC over Maize release

Member of Parliament MP for Zomba Malosa constituency and councilors from Machinga have stormed Liwonde Agricultural Development and Marketing Cooperation ADMARC where they blocked the entrance to force government release maize meant for their areas

According to Member of Parliament for Zomba Malosa constituency Grace Kwelepeta she is surprised to note that all ADMARCs in the two districts have no maize although government through minister of agriculture Sam Kawale presented a statement three weeks ago in parliament on equal distribution of maize

Kwelepeta claimed that people in her area are dying of hunger as government is supplying maize to Blantyre and Lilongwe from the deport

Meanwhile, government bowed down to the pressure by releasing 1200 bags to each constituency

ADMARC head of  human resources Ethel Zirirakhasu assure the parliamentarian and the councillors of continued availability of maize in the ADMARC depots because government promised to give them additional Maize by Friday 10 March 2023
