Muslim Association of Malawi says girl child education is foundation of Malawi’s development
Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) says girl child education remains the country’s foundation to national development.
National Chairman of MAM Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, said this when he officially opened the new masjid at Abubakar Sidik Girls Academy in Balaka.
Sheikh Muhammad said “if a girl child is well education will be able to defend her religion and fully take part in social economic development of the country.”
Sheikh Muhammad therefore commended HDT Limited for the support it renders towards girl child education by providing quality education in both secular and Islamic education.
“HDT Limited is setting a good example in constructing schools in the rural area in which many children especially from the remote areas are benefiting,” Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad said.
Earlier in the day, the school organized the final term closing ceremony where pupils displayed a number of activities they learn at the school.
In his remarks, Director of Abubakar Sidik Girls Academy, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, said “the school will now introduce secondary school classes from the next school session.”
Sheikh Chabulika who is also the Publicity Secretary for MAM, revealed that progress is at advanced stage to establish the boys’ academy.
