Muslim MPs donate to Maula Prison

As Muslims are preparing to observe Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers, a group of Muslim Members of Parliament has donated iftar to inmates at Maula Prison.

Speaking after handing over rice and sugar to the prisoners chairperson of the grouping which comprises 18 Islamic law makers Yaumi Mpaweni said they had decided to donate the items because inmates lack a lot of necessities.

“The items will alleviate some of the challenges the inmates are facing at Maula prison,”said Mpaweni.

One of the inmates Shaibu Osman thanked Muslim MPs for the donation.

“We thank Muslim legislator for considering us because the items will reduce some of the challenges we face,” said Osman.

Speaking on behalf of the prison Waders Senior Superintendent Kalirani Mwale appreciated the initiative saying will improve lives of inmates.

“I appeal to organisations to emulate the good gesture by Muslim MPs in order to reduce challenges the inmates are facing,” concluded Mwale.
