Muslims Around World Celebrate Eid

Muslims around the world are today celebrating Eid-ul-Adha.

This Eid is celebrated by slaughtering animals in remembrance of what God commanded Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his only son Ishmael.

Speaking during the prayers in Blantyre Secretary General for Muslim Association of Malawi MAM, Alhaj Twaibu Lawe said the prayers have provided an opportunity for Muslims in the country to pray for peace and solidarity.

Alhaj Lawe said for people to enjoy the freedom of worship, peace is paramount hence the need for Muslims to uphold unity and tolerance.

“Time has come for the Muslim community to work together and never let differences in opinions to divide the Ummah,” Alhaj Lawe said

He wished well the political leadership in the country.

In his remarks, Muslim scholar Sheriff Kaisi called for respect on leaders.

The prayers which took place at Chichiri Upper Stadium were organized by Nikah and Other Islamic Functions Association NIFA.

In his remarks, chairman of a committee which was organizing the prayers Jullah Bakili  Kuluunda asked Muslims of goodwill to consider donating musallah materials such as tents and tarpaulins as they are spending a lot of money hiring the materials.
