Malawi to begin Coronavirus test end March

Ministry of health says Malawi will by the end of March start conducting tests on suspected cases of Coronavirus

Minister responsible Jhappie Mhango during a presser said currently the ministry is developing capabilities of personnel to take up the work.

Mhango who is also chairperson of the cabinet committee on Corona preparedness said samples are being sent to South Africa which takes time to produce results.

“My Ministry is following up 111 people suspected of the disease who are in safe isolations,” says Mhango

He also said government has intensified screening campaign in border posts.

The health Minister adds that his ministry is working with ministry of homeland security to ensure that all unchartered routes are checked in order to seal all loopholes.

He has asked Malawians to avoid large gatherings until the risk is over.

In his remarks minister of information Mark Botomani asked the media to observe caution in reporting issues relating to Corona virus to avoid creating fear and panic among Malawians.

“In the wake of fake news there is need to confirm with relevant authorities on an issue relating to the disease,” Botomani adds
