Over 15, 000 Girls Get Cancer Vaccine In Blantyre

Blantyre district health office says has managed to vaccinate 82 percent of the girls targeted in the cervical cancer vaccination campaign.

In an interview, Blantyre district environmental health officer Penjani Chunda said over 15 thousand girls have received the vaccine out of targeted 17 thousand.

Chunda said the vaccine will be introduced in the routine immunization hence the remaining percentage of the girls will get it in their nearest health centres.

“Though we faced challenges in the exercise, the program has been successful,” said Chunda

Ministry of Health launched cervical cancer vaccine on 10 January, 2019 in Mangochi.
