Police arrest car hijackers in M1 road

Police in Ntcheu have arrested 6 thugs who were blocking M1 road with stones to ambush vehicles.

Ntcheu police public relations officer Gift Matewere has confirmed the arrest.

Matewere said they received a number of reports from motorists who have been attacked especially at night around Lixulu area.

“The six had been evading police officers for some time and continued to mount stones between Mapiri and Kachipeya villages,” said Matewere.

He said they all come from Mapira village and were operating from there.

Matewere further advised people not be scared by anyone when traveling at night along the M1 road especially at Lixulu because the men in uniform are in control.
