SONA Sidelined People With Disabilities-MUB

The Malawi Union of the Blind (MUB) has expressed dissatisfaction over Presidents Arthur Peter Mutharika state of the Nation Address SONA which it says it’s not inclusive of people with disabilities.

Speaking to Radio Islam, MUB Projects Officer Latim Matenje said though the speech is comprehensive as it has touched several areas of development, it is sad that Mutharika did not touch on people with disabilities.

Matenje said “lack of direction on issues of inclusion by policy holders has led to poor inclusion of people with disabilities.”

However, Matenje has commended Mutharika for the formation of the National planning commission which he said will be instrumental in uplifting development of the country.

According to Mutharika, the Commission will end policy discontinuations in the country.

Matenje has meanwhile advised Mutharika to put politics out of the commission.
