The missing Kit is not ours – MEC

Malawi Electoral Election (MEC) has disclaimed being the owner of the missed Biometric Voter Registration Kit.

Speaking at the National Elections Consultative Forum (NECOF) in Lilongwe, MEC Chairperson Justice Dr Jane Ansah said the kit belongs to the National Registration Bureau which have partner since the exercise started.

Justice Dr Ansah added that the issue has not affected MEC’s work since the data was already transferred from the kit.

However concerned delegates have expressed dissatisfaction with the remarks made by MEC Chairperson.

Secretary General for Peoples Party (PP), Ibrahim Matola said MEC is not giving clear information to Malawians.

Matola said the meeting will not give any fruit since all involved authorities on the matter are connected and appointed by the State President.

Meanwhile, Umodxi party has asked Mlawi Electoral Commission to involve the National Audit Office to verify if indeed the machine was not tampered with.
