TUM worried with law makers silence on salary increment

As only few weeks remain to close parliament deliberations, Malawi Congress of Trade Union MCTU has expressed dissatisfaction with the way parliamentarians are handling the issue of salary increment for junior civil servants.

MCTU president Muwake Chauluka has said this in an interview with radio Islam.

“It is not necessary for parliamentarians to argue on useless issues living behind important ones such as salary increment,” Chauluka stressed.

He has therefore warned government that it will be held responsible if the juniors demonstrate in the near future.

Chauluka also asked the parliamentarians to discuss the tax free band which is now at k20, 000 to be at k40, 000 saying that it will help people who receive less amount to develop their families even if the salaries are not increased.
