UNICEF calls for innovations in education sector

UNICEF has called upon Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to come up with innovative ways of generating income to get rid of the challenges it is experiencing.

Education specialist at UNICEF Kimanzi Muthengi made the call during the opening of a new secondary school regional dialogue meeting in Mangochi.

“Government must provide quality secondary school education and motivate teachers,” Muthengi said

Speaking at the function principal secretary in the ministry of education Justin Saeed advised the participants to find best ways to improve secondary education standards.

Saeed said secondary education is not improving as compared to primary education.

“There are 5400 primary schools and 749 secondary schools as well as 500, 000 learners in primary schools but 400, 000 in secondary schools,” disclosed Saeed
