Zambia President calls for locals control of mines

Zambia’s President Edgar Lungu has called for increased local control over the ownership of mines

Mining is the backbone of Zambia but most mines are owned by foreign firms.

Lungu, who is visiting the Copper belt region, said this must change.

He said they will safeguard their sovereignty in the mining sector so that it changes for the better

Lungu refused to believe that Zambians cannot run the mines therefore one day they will be operated by them
