British Nationals Testify in Malawi Bribery Case

A witness from Britain’s National Crime Agency has begun testifying in a bribery case which former director of ant corruption Reyneck Matemba allegedly committed with businessman Zuneth Sattar

The witness has told Financial crimes court of Malawi that none of the audios extracted from phone of Sattar indicated that there was a discussion of bribery with Matemba

However he says some audios are in foreign language and are yet to be interpreted.

The witness has however said he saw a text between Sattar and Ashok in which the former ordered the latter to pay Matemba 10 000 which he presumes is 10 000 Dollars

Earlier the financial crimes court rejected Matemba’s appeal to bar the British witnesses to testify in his corruption case

Judge Violet Chipao dismissed the appeal saying Ant Corruption Bureau is allowed to use the two witnesses.

Matemba has asked the witness to show him text that shows Sattar directed Ashok to pay him 10 000.
