CFTC Investigates Cross Border Bus Operators

Competition and Fair Trading Commission CFTC has commenced investigations against some cross border bus operators for allegedly engaging in unconscionable conduct in the trade of goods and services.

CFTC executive director has cited the operators as Intercape Bus Company, Jobella Star Bus Services and Taqwa bus services.

Martha Kaukonde for the executive director says the investigations have been instituted following complaints the commission has received from people who accessed passenger and baggage transportation services.

“The customers complained that their goods were lost or damaged but the buses denies liability. And the bus operators do not treat well the passengers,” Kaukonde said

She also said CFTC is concerned with the matter because they are violating the competition and fair trading act which prohibits unconscionable conduct.

Kaukonde further said the owners have failed to consider the complaints which were presented by the passengers.

The commission therefore has appealed to the general public to submit the information regarding the matter.

Kaukonde stressed that the matter will be handled with confidentiality.
