Council for Non Government Organizations in Malawi CONGOMA has advised Civil Society Organizations CSOs in Balaka district to follow up public procurement system to end corruption and mismanagement of tax payers’ funds.

Speaking during a daylong training organized to sensitise the CSO’s on the newly introduced Civic Participation in Public Procurement for Better Public Resources Allocation project, project manager for CONGOMA Sinekinala Kaludzi said it is high time Malawians should be involved in the system.

“CONGOMA hopes that CSO’s in Balaka will perform well on the task which they have been given so that communities in the district enjoy fruits of the project,” Kaluzi stated

Commenting Balaka CSO’s chairperson Charles Sineta said the training has been beneficial to them as corruption is rampant in government.

Sineta made an assurance to CONGOMA that “we will strive to end corruption in public procurement system though it is not an easy task.”
