Court Orders MDF to Appear in Chilima Corruption Case

High Court has ordered Malawi Defence Force (MDF) to appear before it through Attorney General to explain specific reasons for refusing to furnish ACB with documents on corruption vice president allegedly committed with businessman Zuneth Sattar

In his ruling Judge Redson Kapindu gave defence lawyers two days to file Notice of hearing which should be served on Thabo Chakaka- Nyirenda and MDF.

MDF refused to give the letters to the bureau arguing the documents are highly classified and a threat to national security.

ACB lawyer Chrispin Khunga told the court that the bureau served the defence with MDF response.

Defence lawyer Bright Theu however, accused the bureau of failing to fully use its powers in forcing MDF to provide the documents.

Meanwhile the judge ordered ACB to give all evidence to lawyers of  Chilima before he can take plea in the case
