Government has announced that Eid-ul-fitr holiday will be observed on Monday.

In a press release Ministry of Local Government and Rural development new moon says this follows the advice from Muslim Association of Malawi MAM that this year’s Eid prayers marking the end of holy month of Ramadan will be held either Sunday or Monday depending on the sighting of new moon.

Secretary for local government and rural development Charles Kalemba has advised the public that announcement of the actual sighting of the new moon shall be made by MAM but will not affect the holiday on Monday.
The Ministry is wishing all Muslims in the country and the public a happy Eid-ul-fitr public holiday.
