Environment Conservation Stakeholders petition Chief justice over thin plastic ban case.

Stakeholders in environment protection namely CURE CEPA, WESM, Environmental Journalist Association of Malawi and religious organizations such as QMAM have presented a petition to Chief justice calling for judiciary to expedite the thin plastic ban case.

The petition has been delivered as part of commemorating World Environment Day.

Speaking after presenting the petition outside high court premises in Blantyre guest of honor Jafar Kawinga pleaded with judiciary to quickly conclude thin plastic case saying the delay is hindering environment protection work since some companies are still producing and selling thin plastics

Sheikh Kawinga said religious leaders have a role to advocate for environment protection in Malawi

Speaking after receiving the petition on behalf the chief justice, registrar of Judiciary Kondwani Banda promised to deliver it to chief justice who is currently outside the country.
