Ex-MPs seek parliamentary polls nullification

Zomba High court judge Zione Ntaba has transferred the case in which ex-members of parliament are seeking nullification of parliamentary elections due to her unavailability.

According to Ntaba applicants of the case are Peter Bvalani and Dr Jessie Kabwira while the respondents are electoral commission, speaker of national assembly and attorney general.

She says the applicants brought an ex-parte summons for an interlocutory injunction

“The matter was emailed to her by assistant registrar to urgently handle as she is out of the country attending a meeting,” says Ntaba

She adds the court thoroughly examined the matter and noted that there is a critical issue being asked to be determined ex-parte that is the restraining of speaker of national assembly from commencing any parliamentary proceedings.

Ntaba expressed that Zomba district registry to date is still being operated by a single judge due to justice Kapindu still being tasked with handling the presidential elections matter.
