Fishermen drown in Lake Malombe

Two fishermen have died in Mangochi district after their canoe capsized in Lake Malombe.

Mangochi police publicist Roderick Maida confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as James Andiotchi and Idana Ajibu.

“The bodies were found floating with other body parts believed to have been eaten by crocodiles,” said Maida

He added postmortem conducted at Ukalanga Health Centre revealed that death was due to suffocation.

James hails from Bolera village in Traditional Authority Mponda in the district whilst Idana hails from Chisawa village in Traditional Authority Chimwala in the district of Mangochi.
