Government Asks Stakeholders to Assist in National Health Strategy

Government has asked stakeholders in the health sector to help in the implementation of national Community health strategy.

Deputy Director for the department of Preventive Health in the Ministry of Health, Doreen Alli made the call during two day media training on the strategy in Salima.

“Government developed the national community health strategy to give direction of the implementation of community health in the country, as Malawi has a high disease burden,” Alli said.

She said, the strategy will among others improve community health work to ensure that health services are accessible to all Malawians.

Alli added “the community health work is an important element is as far as preventive services are concerned hence the need for stakeholders to support implementation of the strategy.”

In his remarks, President of Malawi Environmental Health Association MEHA Kondwani Mamba, said the strategy has come at a right time as it will harmonize community health services in the country.

“Mada once implemented well, morbidity levels will reduce as addition community health workers will be engaged,” Mamba said

The training was funded by AMREF health Africa.

Health Systems Advocacy Manager for Amref Benedict Chinsakaso said community health workers help increase communities access to health services, hence the need for the country to implement the strategy well.
