Government & CSTU Condemn MCP Protest At Capital Hill

Government and Civil Servants Trade Union CSTU have condemned protests by Malawi Congress party MCP at Capital Hill.

In a press release made available to Radio Islam chief secretary to government Lloyd Muhara says provision of government services was disrupted when Capital Hill was invaded by intruders.

Muhara says the situation is back to normal and services will continue to be provided.

He has therefore called upon all civil servants to continue discharging their duties normally from their offices.

“Capital Hill and all other government offices will be safeguarded, by all means possible, so that the public is not denied the services,” Muhara said

He assures the general public that the Rule of Law will take its course.

Meanwhile, CSTU says is disappointed with the picketed action done to its members at Capital Hill by MCP followers.

General secretary of the union Madalitso Njolomole has emphasized that civil servants are not elected employees and do not practice politics at any level.

“Besides serving government of the day civil servants also serve Malawians at large,” stressed Njolomole

Therefore CSTU urges all civil servants to continue with their daily responsibilities at their working place.
