Muslims In Malawi Celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has appealed to Muslims in the country to continue practicing good work they have been performing in the just ended holy month of Ramadhan.

The appeal comes as Muslims in the country are celebrating the completion of the fasting in Ramadhan.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Publicity Secretary of MAM, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, said Muslims should take advantage of the month as the turning point and repent all sins.

Sheikh Chabulika advised Muslims to ask Allah to forgive all their shortcomings and accept the prayers offered during Ramadhan.

“All Muslims in the country should continue to love one another, remain united and respect leaders,” advised Sheikh Chabulika

Speaking during Eid prayers in Mangochi director of Assalam complex Sheikh Abdallah Ballah advised Muslims to celebrate in accordance with Islamic laws.

Ballah asked the congregation to share with the poor what they have prepared for Eid.

Addressing Muslims at Katoto secondary school ground chairperson of Muslim Association of Malawi in Mzuzu sheikh Umar Matola asked Muslims to continue engaging in righteous deeds.

Sheikh Matola then advised the Muslim community to avoid violence as it is an enemy of national development.

Meanwhile, government says it appreciates the cordial relationship with Muslims in the country.

The remarks were made in Blantyre during eid prayers organized by Nikkah and other Islamic Functions NIFA.

Presidential advisor on religious affairs apostle Timothy Khoviwa said President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika wishes all Muslims in Malawi happy and prosperous eid.

“Muslims in the country contribute a lot in areas of health, education, economy and agriculture just to mention a few,” Khoviwa said

He said government will continue to safe guard rights of Muslims in Malawi so that they practice their religion freely.
