Kuwait offers food to Muslims in Malawi for Ramadhan

Kuwait Red Crescent has donated food items worth 17 million kwacha to Muslims in four districts in Malawi for fasting in Ramadhan

The food are being distributed in Balaka, Mangochi, Machinga and Zomba districts through Malawi Red Cross Society

Speaking during the distribution exercise at Michesi masjid in Balaka chairperson of Muslim Association of Malawi MAM in the district Sheikh Ishmael Mtiko advised Muslims to share and support each other in this holy month

Sheikh Mtiko applauded Kuwait Red Crescent and Malawi Red Cross for the timely donation

However he raised concern over hunger which is likely to affect many Muslim families in Balaka due to drought hence calling for more support

According to Malawi Red Cross Society’s secretary General McBain Kaongodza “the good relationship with MAM prompted them to come with such support since 2019.”

In his response on the projected hunger Kanongodza said Red Cross is currently sorting funds amounting to 4 billion kwacha from its partners to support affected families

One of the beneficiaries Loveness Kamende expressed gratitude to the donation because many Muslims fail to fast in the holy month of Ramadhan due to lack of food
