Lion terrorizes Malawi

Three people have been admitted at Mzuzu central hospital in Malawi after the lion attacked them in Chitipa district.

Speaking to radio Islam, Deputy Police Publicist for Chitipa district Rabbecca Kashoti said the three sustained different degrees of injuries when they tried to kill the lion at Kameme with spears and axes.

Kashoti has identified the victims as “Pacha Sibale, Kauka and Kaonga all from Kameme village in the area of traditional authority Mwaulambia in the district.”

Meanwhile, Director of Parks and Wildlife Brighton Kumchedwa says the Lion has injured the game ranger who tried to kill it but missed and shot the tree.

“The communities around the area should refrain from killing the lion on their own,” Kumchedwa advised

On Thursday July 19 2018 Chitipa police said the Lion had killed 6 cattle in various areas in the district.

Public relations officer for Chitipa police sergeant Gladwell Simwaka said the Lion was believed to have escaped from Lwangwa game reserve in Zambia.

Simwaka said police and game officials were deployed to hunt the Lion.
