Councilor for Mikoma ward in Mangochi district Ibrahim Yali Kachea has been re-elected chairperson for Mangochi Town council.

Speaking after the elections chief executive officer for Mangochi Town council Sellina Chimphamba said the polls have been conducted smoothly and were fair because everyone was given enough time to campaign.

“My office received nomination papers from Ibrahim Kachea and Oliver Tayubu for the position of chairperson but for the deputy post only one councilor Maimuna Mwanyali showed interest,” revealed Chimphamba.

She further said Tayubu withdrew from the competition.

Commenting on the elections second deputy speaker of parliament who is also a member of parliament for Mangochi central constituency Clement Chiwaya advised the councilors to be transparent and accountable in their work.
