Local Development Fund LDF will construct a new office complex worthy 395 million kwacha for Machinga District Council after several years of government’s failure to move the council’s office from the Boma to Liwonde Township.

According to records at the District Commissioner’s office proposals to move the office started in the 1970s.

Machinga District Commissioner, Reignhard Chavula confirmed the development saying construction of the new double storey will start this year.

“The offices will be constructed on a more than two hectares piece of land between District Water Offices and Liwonde Community Day Secondary,” Chavula revealed.

She said the multipurpose office complex will have some rooms to rent out.
