Majilis Ulama appeals for respect to authorities

Majilis Ulammah Council of Malawi has pleaded with the Muslim community to respect authorities who are mandated to carry out various issues concerning Islam.

Chairperson of the council Sheikh Mussah Matola made the appeal amid misunderstandings regarding sighting of the moon.

Radio Islam established that every year Muslims in the country are divided on the sighting especially during Eidil Fitri and Eidil Adhuha.

“The misunderstandings erupt because of some unguided Muslims who do not respect their authorities,” said Sheikh Matola.

He said Islam does not condone the behavior of undermining authorities of its bodies.
