Malawi against unqualified personnel in coronavirus sensitisation

Government is concerned with unqualified personnel in COVID-19 sensitization meetings.

Minister of information, civic education and communications technology Mark Botomani says Ministerial committee on COVID 19 is this week orienting traditional leaders, district commissioners and district health officers in the management of the virus.

Botomani therefore says it is inappropriate for groups such as UTM and MCP to involve themselves in Corona virus message development and dissemination without any orientation.

“Incorrect information is a setback to the fight against coronavirus and correct information developed and disseminated wrongly is a danger,” says Botomani

For that reason the information Minister has asked UTM and MCP to cancel their corona virus sensitization tours and allow the ministry of health officials to take lead.

Botomani says any political party must not use corona virus for political gains adding people’s lives are at risk hence they should leave politics aside and think Malawi first

He has warned that law enforcers will deal with anyone who disregards the orders by president Mutharika.
