Malawi president goes to Qatar
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has left the country for Doha in Qatar for the 5th United Nations conference on Least Developed Countries LCD slated for March 5 to 9
The conference which is being held under the theme “from potential to prosperity” is significant to Malawi and LDC bloc in a number of ways as guided by strategic urge to achieve sustainable development goals
It is also at this conference the state president will hand over Malawi’s chair ship of LDC upon completion of his tenure
Commenting, Michel Kaiyatsa of Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation says Malawi’s membership to (LDCs) has not brought any impact.
Kaiyatsa says it is high time the country reviewed its membership to some international organizations which have milked our already strangling economy.
According to Kaiyatsa when the president leaves the country for such meetings he uses a lot of public resources which could have been used for other equally important things in the country.
