Malawi president to attend world economic forum
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera will attend world economic forum in Switzerland from Saturday 21st May
Speaking before departing Kamuzu International Airport Chakwera said world leaders will discuss ways of achieving equitable and fair global economic recovery
Chakwera said the forum is significant considering economic challenges facing Malawi, least developed and SADC countries due to covid-19 pandemic, climate change induced disasters and war in Europe
“On his way back from Switzerland the president will pass through Equatorial Guinea to attend summits of African union on humanitarian matters and pledging conference as well as terrorism and unconstitutional changes of government,” reads the statement from Ministry of foreign affairs
The first summit will develop resource mobilization strategies for addressing humanitarian challenges Africa is facing and the second will focus on sustainable solutions to recent surge in terrorism and unconstitutional changes of government
Chakwera is expected to return home on Sunday 29th May.
