Malawi tipped to fight hard to escape US Embassy Closure

Malawi has been advised to fight hard so that it should not be listed among embassies which USA is intending to close.

According to reports, USA is considering of closing nearly 30 embassies and consulates and over half of which are Africa countries aimed at cutting the budget by nearly 50% and reducing foreign aid by approximately 75%.

But reacting to the development, one of the country’s economists, Edward Chilima, said the closure of embassies will have a great impact especially to the developing countries.

Chilima said much as all are aware that poor countries will need USA in all endeavours so every effort should be made to negotiate the situation.

He said there is a larger market for Malawi in USA therefore it is critical for Malawi to ensure there is a cordial relationship between the two countries.
