
Ministry downplays Malawi-Tanzania Trade Animosity
Ministry of Trade and Industry has downplayed the trade animosity between Malawi and Tanzania
This has been said as the deadline of an ultimatum which Tanzania issued to Malawi over restrictions on imports of farm produce
Through an official statement, ministry of agriculture in Tanzania said if Malawi does not resend its decision by Wednesday this week, Tanzania will retaliate by also banning goods entering and leaving Tanzania.
In an interview with Radio Islam spokesperson of the Ministry Patrick Botha said the ministry has not received any communication regarding that matter through diplomatic channels.
Botha declined to comment much on what Malawi government will do if Tanzania reacts that way
Meanwhile, economic expert Adam Chipaka Gaisi described the situation as unfortunate for Malawi’s economy considering shortage of forex the country is facing.
