Five new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the country raising the figures to 70.

Minister of Health Jhappie Mhango during a press briefing in Mzuzu said two of the cases are imported while the three are local transmission.

Mhango said two of the cases are in Lilongwe, two in Blantyre and one in Zomba.

The minister added that the two cases in Blantyre are health workers in Limbe.
“In Lilongwe one is a Tanzania national who is currently residing at Biwi while the other is a 30 year old Malawian who returned from South Africa through uncharted routes.”

So far 11 districts have been affected with 40 active cases, 27 recoveries and 3 deaths since the first case was announced on 2nd April this year.
