Muslims in Malawi to pray eidul fitri prayers amid Public gathering ban

Muslim Association of Malawi MAM has assured Muslims in the country that they will pray Eid–ul-ftir amid Covid 19 pandemic.

Speaking to Radio Islam, as Muslims across the world are in final week of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, MAM Publicity Secretary Sheikh Dinala Chabulika said Muslims in Malawi will observe Eid-ul-ftir prayers but advised them to ‘totally observe Covid 19 prevention measures.’

Sheikh Chabulika said, “MAM has engaged authorities at government level to allow Muslims to observe Eid prayers which has given a go ahead.”
He further advised Islamic organizations that organize Eid prayers to ask people to pray in open grounds and observe preventive measures.

Currently, Malawi has registered 71 cases of COVID-19 since its first case in April 2020.But Government had earlier put in place restrictions which included a ban on public gathering of more than 100 people.
