Malawi’s Slain Soldiers Repatriated

Bodies of Malawian soldiers who were killed by rebels in Democratic Republic of Congo DRC have been repatriated.

Speaking at Kamuzu International Airport president professor peter Mutharika said the death of the soldiers is painful to Malawi as a nation.

Mutharika said it is a very painful day and Malawi has lost heroes of peace to Africa.

“Neither death nor enemy will change Malawians from what they are. We are warriors of peace and ambassadors of peace,” said Mutharika

He stressed that Malawi will continue fighting for peace.

The president condoled bereaved families and thanked all groups of people who have been with Malawi in morning the fallen heroes.

He commended Malawi Defense force soldiers for being an exemplary peace keeping force.

In her remarks UN country representative Maria Jose Torres said expressed condolence message from UN chief Antonio Gutteres to bereaved families and Malawi.

She said UN has instituted a commission of inquiry in order to get facts on the attack.
