Zam-Zam Foundation To Construct Islamic University In Malawi

Zam-Zam foundation says plans to construct the most awaited Islamic University in Malawi are at an advance stage.

Speaking in an interview with radio Islam Programs Manager of Zam-Zam Foundation Ajiru Kalitendere said they are now working with the architecture to design the buildings.

Kalitendere also said the construction might start next year if they conclude talks with donors.

He further said the university will be built at Mikuyu in Zomba district.

“The idea to construct Islamic University began in the early 2000’s but the transition of government and the allegations of ALQAEDA affected the commencement of the work,” Kalitendere said.

He disclosed that they plan to introduce four faculties namely faculty of health, agriculture, education and Information Technology.

“We think of agriculture university because Malawi does not have a private agriculture university but it will depend on what our donors need,” added Kalitendere

In April, 2013 Minister of Transport and Public Works, Sidik Mia disclosed that Islamic university in Malawi would be established with support from Direct Aid Society of Kuwait.
