A report by Ant Corruption Bureau ACB mentioned Chilima as one of the suspects involved in corruption with UK businessman Zuneth Sattar

He also fired inspector general George Kainja and suspended state house chief of staff as well as chairperson of public procurement

Kanyongolo says the supporter’s presence at Chilima’s residence would not in any way affect ACB officers from carrying out their work.

“Should the supporters interfere in the ACB’s work the law should take its cause,” Kanyongolo

Meanwhile, Malawi Law Society (MLS) has backed President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s decision to withhold his delegation duties to vice president Dr Saulos Chilima.

In a statement signed by its president Patrick Mpaka and honary secretary Chrispin Ngunde, MLS, says under the Constitution the President, is at liberty to decide to delegate or not to delegate some functions to Vice President.

Mpaka and Ngunde say Vice President is not immune from criminal prosecution.

They have asked members of UTM party not to interfere with Anti-Corruption Bureau’s prosecution of Dr Saulos Chilima

In a related development Chilima will on Friday 1st July address the nation on emerging issues of national importance

This comes a week after ant corruption bureau officials interrogated him on corruption allegations which forced president Chakwera to withdraw delegated duties from Chilima
