MAM withdraws from NRHC

Muslims in the country are today celebrating eid al-fitr.

This follows 30 days of fasting in the just ended holy month of Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has withdrawn from the National Ruyatul Hillal Committee NHRC, a committee which is responsible for the sighting of the moon.

The national Chairman for MAM, Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad made the announcement during eidil al fitri prayers held in Zomba on Monday.

Sheikh Muhammad said there are few individuals in the committee who are are not accommodative to the views of others.

Sheikh Muhammad said MAM will establish its own committee at the regional and district level.

“Time has now come for the Muslims in the country to remain united,” Sheikh Muhammad

Speaking during Eid prayers at Upper stadium in Blantyre, one of the Islamic scholars in the country Sherif Kaisi encouraged Muslims to implement lessons learnt in the month of Ramadhan to promote their faith.

Kaisi cited sharing, peace and oneness as some of the lessons learnt.

Meanwhile, Muslims in Malawi have been urged to promote peace, unity and cooperation.

Former Malawi vice president Dr. Cassim Chilumpha SC.made the call at Makawa Primary School ground in Mangochi during this year’s eid Al uftr cerebration.

Chilumpha reminded Muslims in the country that the month of Ramadan is a teacher who instilled good behavior in the lives of all Muslims, hence calling for transformed lives.

“Muslims in the country must be the first people to live exemplary by avoiding bad behaviors and inculcate the same to all Malawians for the country to prosper,” Chilumpha says

In his Remarks, Muslims Association of Malawi, Mangochi district chairperson sheikh Fahad Kamsuli echoed Dr. Chilumpha’s sentiments on the need for Muslims in Malawi to be champions of unity and peace adding there is strength in unity.

Meanwhile, Mchotokwa Madrassah from T/A Mtchema in Chiradzulu district has donated food items to the district’s hospital as part of Eid L-Fitri celebrations.

Speaking to Radio Islam after donating the Items on Monday, Ustadh Ismaila Swaleh Modi said they thought of donating the items to patients admitted at the facility as a way of teaching the learners the importance of giving.

Ustadh Modi said it is very important to allow children practice what they are learning so that they become productive leaders in the future

“I call upon fellow Ustadhs to be role models to their learners, so that their learners can value what they are learning,” stadh Modi

Appreciating the gesture, one of the nursing officers at the facility, Grace Ngalonde said the donated items will help patients who are admitted at the facility.

She then called upon other people to borrow a leaf from them, saying patients lack many things when they are I n the hospital

Mchotokwa Madrassah which was opened last year is run by Malawi Releif fund – UK and on the day they donated maize, flour, soap, cooking oil among others.
